Sophisticated, intuitive and efficient. Words to describe my experience depending on the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on traversing Thailand, Vietnam, and South Korea. The amazingly compact carry-on makes airplane aisles and terminals a breeze to navigate, while the consistently smooth dual-caster wheels keep decibels to minimal levels.
Flying professionals, seasoned travellers and frequent commuters will find the premium aesthetics desirable, while the efficient organisational and intuitive handling system offers excellent versatility when it comes to flying.

Meet the Victorinox Lexicon Global

By dimensions, the Victorinox Lexicon Global carry on is compact at 55cm long, 40cm wide and 21cm thick. With a four dual-caster wheel design, the wheels are durable and offer better gear load weight management than those of larger carry on dimensions. The body design is fairly simple, with molded trims at the corner and body, while the TSA lock and handle display a distinctive, graduated curve, seamless in design.
The telescopic handle is a click and release, offering a step system to lock the height in place. As for weight, it’s in-line among carry on luggage at 3.2kg, though weightier considering it’s slimmer dimension and robust shell. In real life, however? it feels quite light and definitely a manageable base weight to work with.
When it comes to materials, the exterior is made of 100% virgin polycarbonate shell with puncture-resistant double racquet coil YKK zippers for durable protection. A clever addition to the design in the Lexicon Global are the recessed wheels that open extra compartment space in between – an efficient approach to the conventional upright shape. There’s no expandable option and the slimness may look like a compromise to the fully-packed traveller… But the outside doesn’t tell all.

Efficient Interior System

Here’s what the interior organisation system of the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on luggage looks like – you can find one of several ways I’ve packed this for a trip to give you an idea how it stacks. Space is offered efficiently in a design that is unique and distinctive. I wanted to use a carry on that would breeze through airport terminals, mobile and thought space. I wasn’t sure how well this would pack due to the dimensions, shape and lack of expansion, but the end result is it impressively packs well.
The recessed wheels opens further space between on both main compartments, while the X-compression strap system helps keep everything in place with flex to over-pack. There’s a removable attachment along the spine that include two fully zipped pockets, mirroring the mesh pockets in reverse. Inside is a USB cable where you can connect your powerbank and use the external port to charge your phone without all the hassle.
All zippers are rugged and high-quality, offering a satisfying experience through and through. With Victorinox known for their swiss army knife roots, there’s a soft padded sleeve attached where you can dock one into. A travel or lite Swiss Army Knife will fit in nicely, but this can also be used for any key fob or similar too.

Smooth Rolling in South-East Asia

So how has the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on really fared? Honestly, it’s been a beauty to work with and I think very highly of it. This is luxury luggage right here. I normally work with a carry on backpack and certainly had to adapt, thinking how to approach fitting my tech equipment and garments in the defined space. The trade-off switching from a backpack was significantly more packing space, but for 2.5x the weight. Quite a lot, I know. And while I was fine with my backpack taking some hits, scratches are more visible on hardshells, so I bought a luggage cover which I highly recommend to preserve the condition. Available in beetroot, black and titanium colourways, I went for the titanium and it looks beautiful; but is prone to visible markings. For less pronounced markings, I recommend the black option which is mor stealthy and hides them better.
My travels this time was settling months at a time in each country, so paired with the larger Victorinox Lexicon Hardside Checked Luggage (105L), I had some packing allowance to play with. Fitted with just clothes and a pair of shoes, the overall package is very lightweight and easy to move with. Fitted for maximum carry on allowance, I found the weight still manageable, though either had less, weightier items with room to spare, or lightweight garments packed to the brim. Choice is yours, but I never found myself wanting or needing more.
I’m a big fan of the slightly tall and significantly thinner waistline. No matter how much you pack, the whole setup just feels so much easier to work with. While travellers constantly struggled to roll their carry on luggage through the airplane aisles – usually hitting chair armrests and uncomfortably lifting their luggage into the overhead luggage cabins – meanwhile, I effortlessly rolled without any concern and my luggage fit in tight cabin spots that others just couldn’t. I felt more agile, lighter and a sense of confidence and assurance rolling with the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on; a similar feeling to minimal carry on only travellers. Even with the matching Victorinox 105L checked luggage to wheel, it never felt like a hassle to stroll with. I felt a renewed sense of travel empowerment thanks to a nimble, compact carry on companion to work with.

Diving into the Details

Diving into the details, externally it’s the side profile of the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on that attracts the most attention. The conventional rectangular form factor is disrupted as it concaves towards the middle. The TSA lock and luggage handle flush into the design, offering more longevity as it is less likely to catch or hit other luggages in the airplane hold. The zipper track and rubber seam are quite intriguing as it smoothly curves to follow the contours. My favourite element of the Victorinox Lexicon carry on are the intuitive handles – If you lift the luggage, the handle kind of locks itself on the ends to the luggage body for improved handling, weight distribution and greater heavyweight stress tolerance. The same goes for the top handles which added confidence and was reassuring the handles wouldn’t cave in if it was very heavy.
Other exterior features include an accessory built-in tray, which includes a SIM-card eject tool, mini pen and space to write your address and details onto. Located at the bottom of the telescopic handle, the built-in tray when open also reveals the connecting USB port that feeds inside to your own powerpack. You can leave it inside the compartment and connect a cable on the outside to stay charged for your flight duration. It’s a neat feature that offers convenient charge to any powerpack.
While other luggages like the Horizon Studios M5 / H5 or Away carry on offer an optional ejectable battery you can use independently, built for their luggages, they take up extra space to dock and don’t necessarily offer best charging performance. Sometimes a simpler option to connect any powerpack gives more freedom to travellers, and that’s what you get here.

Packing for the Travelling Creator

While travellers obsessing over aesthetics may laud the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry On, functional travellers may be concerned about the usable space. At 21cm deep, it’s an attractively compact carry on, however offers 34L to pack inside. Putting numbers aside, despite the lack of an expandable option, the intuitive built-in compartments, pockets and clever design offers amples of usable space for the infrequent and seasoned traveller.
Above is my gear load for the weekend, taking some of my camera equipment together with my clothes. I usually pack even more than this, including my Victorinox Altmont Original Flapover Laptop daypack which sits in the middle column. But I want to show the mesh compartments built in the channel where the telescopic handles slide down because they are awesome. Usually, this is wasted space that we fill with our clothes, but the official compartments make these a real thing. The small mesh is perfect for my larger Victorinox Swiss Army Champ Knife, while the larger mesh comfortably holds my portable LED light. You can safely store a Nintendo Switch inside a case with joycons on, or a variety of smaller accessories. The extra set of small pockets in the main space really add to the utility of the Victorinox Lexicon Global Carry on luggage.
The right side holds my extra Sony camera body, 90mm Sony G lens and monitor battery wrapped in the white cloth. Otherwise you can line it with a pair of shoes and clothing. On the other main compartment is a full zipper with another zipper along the lining to keep your smart clothes from crumpling or creasing. The space is fully usable with nothing interrupting, perfect for multiple garment packing cubes. The versatility to pack a variety of garments and my camera equipment, fully-secured while staying slim is impressive, and is sure to be attractive to frequent flyers wanting that hardshell minimal footprint.
