Signature Infinity Pool to Marvel

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER INFINITY POOL
Stunning Infinity Pool and Mountain Backdrop | Book Veranda High Resort

A signature design of Veranda High Resort Chiang Mai is the resort’s infinity pool with a luscious green background. Standing several floors above ground that feels like it’s floating, the edge feels like it tails off straight into the forest. Refreshing against Chiang Mai’s warm and humid weather, the daybed sofa and placed sunbeds under parasols offer a picturesque way to unwind. Open from the morning until 7pm, there’s a chance to enjoy the colourful background throughout the day until sunset (season depending). It’s unheated, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, as when the sun is out and scorching down, is the best way to cool-off.

The infinity pool is situated on the top floor as The Higher Room where we had our breakfast buffet, serving lunch, dinner and drinks. However, all services close around this time and is secluded from outside eateries so you’ll want to plan ahead if you choose to wine and dine here. There are a few restaurants onsite and if I remember correctly, a restaurant placed right by the garden.

Enjoy Wandering the Grounds

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER WATERFALL
You’ll want to wander around the grounds. Definitely. | Book Veranda High Resort

You’ll enjoy wandering around the grounds here at Veranda High Resort Chiang Mai – populated with wandering trials that take you around the Veranda residence ponds, waterfall walkway, library, upper hill photospots and few huts dotted inside the retreat. Be prepared as areas are quite hilly and many stairways that lead to the fitness centre, spa and other gardens. But fear not as you’ll find elevators to the main facilities. Still, I suggest walking around to discover areas you haven’t seen – some aspects are glorious.

The Plunge Pool Pavilion

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER BEDROOM
A Special villa experience perfect to mark an occasion © One Tech Traveller | Book Veranda High Resort

After checking-in with a panoramic sweep of the gardens, two deck chairs strategically placed to soak the view all in, we were directed to the grounds cart. Our luggages placed in the rear, we were driven off to our villa which was one of the furthest away. Still just a few minutes walk from the facilities, we were brought into our pavilion down the steps into our private doorway, with traditional keys use for the place.

The Plunge Pool Pavilion is outstanding – a 880 sq.ft open-plan with big bold features. Very wide and very long, characterised with sliding doors that section the bathroom and a step-down for the living space. The biggest feature in this place is the ultra-wide bed – beyond a kingsize, I wouldn’t be far off to say it was 1.5 x the width of one. Perfect if you have a little one that needs the extra space too.

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER WARDROBE
Wardrobes on both sides of the room is functional and seamless in design | Book Veranda High Resort

Large, wide wardrobe bays on both sides of the Plunge Pool Pavilion offer expansive storage to hang, fold and hideaway your clothes. A pair of quality rattan tote bags, strewn slippers and umbrellas offer a concierge experience during your stay. These served well going to the infinity pool and when we were caught out in heavy rain making our way back here. The floor to ceiling windows just to the side was perfect to slot my Victorinox Lexicon luggage set.

The him and her setup is ideal for a couple, husband and wife or friends to settle down and keep your garments aesthetically organised and out of sight in this own-plan pavilion. My only gripe si the low drawers – a bit too wide that the drawers kept on snagging and hitting the outer doors, making a loud noise. A need for care when sliding them out.

Naturescape from the Pavilion

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER PLUNGE POOL LIFESTYLE
A scenic sanctuary best enjoyed in the Plunge Pool | Book Veranda High Resort

The upper Scenery Pavilion above our Plunge Pool Pavilion offers a raised view into the stunning cultivated plantation inside Veranda High Chiang Mai, with a big day bed and sheltered pool. But the larger private infinity pool that stretches into the shared plantation scenery and being much closer to it is the main reason you’ll want to stay at the Plunge Pool Pavilion – the ambience, atmosphere and scenery is absolutely incredible. The pool was surprisingly deeper than expected – which is a welcome positive – and derives the ‘plunge’ moniker with a ‘jet’ mode that bubbles up the pool itself.

The pool is refreshingly cool in the open air and is long enough to enjoy a deep soak, with a step inside to find your footing. I honestly loved the Plunge Pool and is one of the main highlights of my Veranda High Chiang Mai experience, so if you have the chance to, I recommend this style of place and one of the further villas for this breathtaking view. Especially during the morning.

All About Homely Comforts

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER VIEW
The Inside Garden View from the Plunge Pool Pavilion | Book Veranda High Resort

The Plunge Pool Pavilion benefits from a larger floor space than the Scenery pavilion above, with more spacious arrangement of the living room. The sofas have a weaved pattern and was well-cushioned, deep enough to even have a nap on or fit several people with our legs lifted up. Two floor-standing and ambient ceiling lights illuminated this space in the evening, an area to enjoy the coffee machine and amenities on offer. But during the day, we’re greeted with a bright outdoor plantation, weaving rice fields and sounds of birds chirping with an absence of anything mechanical, roaring or disturbing. It was peaceful, calming and relaxing whether you sit in the pool, the daybed outside or sofas inside, you can relax how you want with nothing to interrupt.

Friendly, smiling faces always greeted us, a welcome and warm feeling you’d want to feel being in a place like this. This was also a time to highlight the service, as in our first place, we had an ant hive that ran along the outside pillar with ants seemingly getting into our room. The resort manager personally dealt with it, organising the villa next to us which didn’t have that issue and within 20 minutes, checked and prepared the place before coming to us to move over.

They were understanding and ensured we were accommodated well without any issue, big or small. After that, everything was smooth. I noticed each villa is decorated and furnished differently, our new place better decorated with artwork, picture frames, colourful sofa cushions and the Nespresso coffee machine. Those little touches sweeten the atmosphere better so it comes down to luck. All the villas as standard are excellent nonetheless.

The bathroom is pure tranquility too. Bright windows invite the outside in, with plants and bamboo the background, hidden with high-rise walls that don’t feel out of place. Double-sided marble vanity worktops stand in the centre as you walk-in, continuing the design language for him and her use. A rainforest shower can be found towards the back, divided off in pure marble with bright floor to ceiling windows. It honestly feels like you’re showering within nature. Almost.

Breakfast at The Higher Room

VERANDA CHIANG MAI REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER FOOD
Breakfast at The Higher Room | Book Veranda High Resort

For breakfast, there’s a nice selection of continental, hot Thai and international cuisines, fruits, pastries and desserts to start the day. The dishes are light and filling, ranging from the egg station to rice and meat dishes to breads and soup. Next to the Infinity Pool, the Higher Room is cooly air conditioned with bright glass windows for plenty of natural light. If you’re lucky, the outside booths overlooking the pool towards the mountain is a fantastic place to enjoy breakfast.

Hot drinks are served on order, with juice refreshments chilled in ice buckets, always available. Overall, breakfast was pleasant, with a good variety to indulge in. It’s worth having it included in your stay, otherwise definitely do some food shopping before arriving as you’ll struggle to find somewhere nearby this early in the morning. And it’s not a bad idea to have morning breakfast and then relax at the pool afterwards.
