I didn’t think I would use the Manta Sleep Aroma mask as often as I have, mainly because I saw it as a niche type of sleeping mask that combines super comfortable and an aromatic fusion together. But to be honest, it really works very well. The headband has an excellent adjustable fit, an awesome inner micro suede inner lining that is even plusher to the head, with a gentle, diffused, and subtle lavender scent that surprisingly really does relax the mind.
I’ve been wearing the Manta Sleep Aroma mask periodically over the year I’ve owned one. And I’m no stranger to Manta Sleep’s modular mask ecosystem either – from the original modular mask to the V2, weighted and slim mask, I’m pretty well-versed in their take on sleep masks. But what I didn’t expect was just how good the aroma mask actually is. If you had any reservation to whether a diffused scent mixed with a sleep mask, well, there is no need. These are the real deal.
What I’ve always been impressed by is the modular concept of the sleep mask, it’s what makes Manta Sleep’s offerings like no other. There’s been a few changes to what they package inside since I got mine a while ago, but for the better. You get the aroma mask headband, two removable eye foam covers and five removable fragrant sachets.
It’s an all-inclusive package that has everything you need. The eye foam covers are essential to what make the masks worth their pricetag and overall experience. Having five sachets included by daily wear and from what Manta Sleep quotes, offer diffused scenting for 1 year. Don’t worry, you can choose to remove them if you prefer sleeping without them or extending the life of them, so these are flexible to your preferences.
The lavender sachets are microwaveable if you want to have gentle warmth over the eyes and stronger diffusion. Whether lavender is a smell you like or not, it’s relaxing to the mind if you’ve particularly had a stressful week, lack sleep or want a more aroma therapeutic deep sleep for general wellbeing.
I’ve always highly rated the original modular sleep mask, due to their blackout coverage, comfortable headband sleeping and high-quality construction that improved over version 1 in every single way. The aroma mask is a different headband with a wider strap, microsuede inner lining, and vented holes on the front and back of the mask towards the bottom. Like the other masks they have the bright orange Manta Sleep logo in the middle.
It has a purply, bluish hue than the light and darker grey shades of the modular masks, but pays tribute to the lavender scent and aromatic nature of the mask. The vented holes lined around the curves of the eye area, two rows of openings that when you smell the mask, gives a strong lavender smell, but when worn is diffused, gentle and more suitable when sleeping.
Soothing Aroma Smell
While they look like they’re bulky, don’t let it fool you – the headband is adequately cushioned with plush microsuede material that feel light and comfortable to wear. If you’re a side sleeper like me, these are comfortable to wear left and right side. The foamy eye covers raise the profile from the front so the sides keep a flat profile to the head.
The eye foam covers are so the best as they have been, providing full adjustable attachment to the aroma mask to tailor the fit to your liking. It’s still what makes the masks better than the rest, before adding the twist of the lavender scent.
So let’s quickly task about that. The lavender sachet are easy to install with a pouch behind the mask with a velcro strap to close it in. They are 100% pure dried lavender buds with no added oils. The smell is very natural and fresh, nicely fragrant, and subtle enough for sleeping. It’s not strong that it’s distracting to the nose or senses but mild enough to ends the mind for wider deep sleep relaxation.
Everything together from the headband to the aroma accent is very well executed and results in a high quality accessory to aid deep REM sleep. I’d even go to say it’s grown on me that I prefer it over the modular mask as an every night wear.
Worth The Extra Aroma?
As for the price? Like with all Mantra sleep marks, these are definitely priced in the higher side for their premium, long lasting use and high quality wear for years to come, compared to traditional sleep masks. It’s $39.99 USD for the entire package, but is highly worthwhile. It’s a little more costlier to the original version and its lavender scent may not be to everyones liking. But even then, the headband feels more refined and comfortable to wear, with the option to sleep with the scent or not.
Manta Sleep has created something soecial in the aroma mask that took me by surprise with how great it feels to sleep wearing. It may feel kind of niche, but is honestly an ezcellent sleep mask worth buying if you value high quality sleep no matter the time of day with a little twist to normal sleep masks.
Manta Sleep continue to impressive among their impressive array of masks, witth the AROMA an unexpected, but innovative take on conventional sleeping masks. It's comfortable, plush, offers excellent blackout while letting your eyes 'breathe', with a subtle scent that relaxes the mind. It may just replace the SLIM for me as a daily driver.
