What’s up Team KBA, today is about the Last Shelter wisdom medal trick and why it’s still relevant for hero development day in Clash of Zones. You may have heard of it floating around your alliance members or online, fret not, it’s not a hack or cheat of any sorts. It’s a legit method used during Hero Development to unlock those 9 boxes (or 18 with X2 reward zone commemoration maxed). Why do you say? To save those ALL IMPORTANT SUPER RECRUITMENT TICKETS!
If you’re spending 10,20,30 or 40 super tickets week-in, week-out, stop right now. you should be saving them for seasonal hero limited recruitments that appear within seasons, or to save them for the right hero pool if you’re in SX seasons. This is especially important for free-to-play gamers who solely rely on earning them organically. If you want to build up your super tickets the quickest way possible in-game, read my article here. I highly recommend watching my video guide below on the wisdom medal trick, otherwise, read on below!
To prepare, ensure you exchange as many wisdom medals in the days before Hero Development COZ arrives. This depends on the level of your exchange military academy hall (mine is level 21), which allows up to 35 exchanges per day.
Only exchange the common and rare heroes (green and blue), leaving the epic and legendary (purple and orange) heroes untouched. You get 5 basic wisdom medals per common and 10 per rare hero. Depending on how many medals you have in the academy hall, you may simply run out, which is fine – just exchange as many as you can before hero day so it doesn’t use up the exchanges on the actual day so you can take advantage of that too.
If your academy hall is too low, you’ll need to upgrade the heroes hall before you can upgrade the military academy. Level 20, is more than sufficient.
Pull Free Tickets Every Day
Too make sure you have some heroes to split, make sure you do the daily free tickets, pulling up to 4 x normal tickets (5 minute cooldown per pull), 1 x advanced and 1 x super ticket). This will automatically split any spares if you already have those heroes, or you can manually split once they land in your hero roster.
Pull Normal and Advanced Tickets Only
On hero day, you can pull all the normal and advanced hero tickets to give you extra heroes to play with for the medal trick. Remember, we are trying to saving up our super tickets so do not touch them, no matter how tempted you are (with the exception of pulling them for the right seasonal limited hero recruitment pools, see my guide here).
Common and Rare Heroes
Now for the actual hero medal trick, you will want to level up the common (green) and rare (blue) heroes up to level 12 ONLY. You can open unlock up to 3 of their skills (some common have two) for both types of heroes, while the 4th skill requires 7 sets of rare hero medals so you don’t want to open that up. We want to keep hold off as many heroes to do the trick
Max and Split
Once you’ve opened up their skills, you’ll want to max or level up as much of the skills as possible before you decide to split. Make the most of each hero you upgrade, especially if you only have a few heroes, so only split once you max out each of the 3 skills. Convert legendary wisdom medals to basic to top up and if you run out. Once you’ve maxed out the skills, you’ll want to split the hero.
Don’t worry, you get 80% of the basic wisdom medals back, which is roughly 1000 for 3 skill maxed common heroes, and slightly more of rare heroes (as they need a little more medals). And that’s it! Rinse and repeat this method throughout hero development day until you reach the 9th COZ box!
Choose the Right Hourly
To make the most of this wisdom medal trick, you should aim to do this on the relevant hourly challenges where wisdom medal spends to upgrade heroes are accepted. These are in two types of the hourly – the all-inclusive that counts EXP, tickets, exchange, spend of medals and zombies, and the wisdom medal hourly (exchange, spend and zombies). These will allow you to maximise the number of diamonds and speedups.
Use 100% COZ Ticket Every Time
It’s helpful to use a 100% COZ Ticket every hourly you do the hero wisdom medal trick to build up your score quickly for all COZ boxes. You’ll want to do this within the last 10-15 minutes of the hourly so it overlaps over 2 challenges and reduces the amount of COZ tickets you’ll go through.
Don’t Forget to Hit Those Zombies
To reduce the amount of times you need to do the hero medal trick, don’t forget to use up your durability and kill level 15 zombies. You’ll get 0.6M per L15 zombie if you’ve maxed zone commemoration. You can rack up 24M COZ points per 40 durability which is a lot and can help cover the gap if you run out of wisdom medals and heroes.
That’s why it’s also important to exchange heroes during the week so you don’t find yourself of medals on the actualy day. There are exceptions, such as during Doomsday Conquest, where every bit of durability counts (while Eden is separate and doesn’t use durability). In this situation, you’ll need to cycle through this hero medal trick as close as you can before making meaningful upgrades to your heroes so you hit those 9 boxes.
Why Do The Hero Medal Trick?
The biggest reason I mentioned is clearly to save up your super recruitment tickets for those all important season heroe pools and for SX. The further into the seasons you are, the odds for the heroes you may need lowers as the roster increases. The pool will span all seasons from legendary through to S1-S4. You are far likely to get season heroes in the limited recruitment pool, BUT you may be likely outside of these (generally it isn’t worth the risk).
The second reason is to max the number of diamonds and speedups you can amass for your stack and train unit COZ. If you do it right, you can get over 100K diamonds from hero development COZ alone, with a crazy amount of speedups to make training troops a breeze.
