Okay Team KBA, Let’s talk about the VIP Shop in Last Shelter Survival. The question you may be wondering if you’ve stumbled upon it is whether the VIP Shop is firstly worth purchasing, and secondly whether it’s good value for money. It’s expensive that’s for sure, but offers a ton of benefits and rewards back compared to other one-time packages. So let me dive in and share my thoughts on it.
Be sure to check out the rest of my articles in the Last Shelter Universe down below to help you play smarter, know how to grow organically fast, and give you an insight into more complicated, nuanced elements of the game. If you find this useful, I’d be grateful to hear your feedback in the comments below and what else you’d like to see. Don’t forget to share with your alliance members!
It’s a paid-for only service that offers plenty of permanent troop buffs, perks and exclusive inventory. You can purchase them with VIP Points, and are available only for VIP Shop members, meaning there is no other way to attain most of these perks without VIP Shop. It uses the in-game VIP Points to purchase some items at a better exchange rate than diamonds while offering a wider set of perks as you unlock new VIP Levels. There are a total of 4 VIP Levels to reach and you gain EXP for each item you purchase. Once you unlock the next VIP Shop level, you start building your EXP pool again from 0.
VIP SHOP LEVEL
If you have unlocked VIP Level 3 or 4, please let me know so I can update the table. Thanks!
How Do You Open VIP Shop?
While VIP Shop unlocks as a building inside your base at level 20, it doesn’t actually open unless you unlock it with 10,000 VIP badges. This is an optional service within Last Shelter that opens up another part of the currency ecosystem which is VIP points.
If you are patient enough, every alliance member is awarded 5 VIP badges every time a member purchases VIP badge packs. It is possible, but unless you’re in a quite spending-heavy alliance, you certainly will be waiting a long time. The only real likely way of unlocking the shop is by either buying the 10,000 VIP badge package in one-go or 1,000 VIP badge weekly packs. This is a one-time unlock that is permanently available to you for the remainder of your time in Last Shelter Survival.
Let’s be clear, VIP Shop is one of the most expensive services you can buy in the game, however, compared to other packages in the same price bracket, offers the best long-term value if you plan to invest for the foreseeable future (with the term investment used loosely.) The instant unlock VIP Badge pack is roughly £99.99 GBP / $105.99 USD (changes due to exchange rates), while the smaller 1K package is £9.99 / $11.99).
The best way to unlock the VIP Shop is to buy the better weekly package which bundles 1,500 instead of 1,000 saving you roughly £20 / $20 USD over a 7 week period. This may be less if you accumulate the VIP points you earned up until now. Once VIP Shop is unlocked, any future VIP Badges will exchange at 100 VIP points per VIP Badge.
There are quite a few ways you can organically earn VIP Points and a few paid-for offers so let me briefly talk about each one of them below:
DAILY TASKS You earn VIP Points by completing certain daily task milestones. At base level 25, you can earn 9.5K VIP Points per day, which is 96.5K per week. Not bad at all.
VIP Raffle Once a day, you get a free raffle when you open the VIP Shop, a lottery roll that gives you up to 99,999 VIP Points, equivalent to 25K Diamonds. Not that you ever get close to that as the minimum I’ve had was a disgustingly low 94 VIP Points. Yeap 94. On the other hand, I’ve also had a few shining moments of reaching 53K VIP points, but on average you’re looking at closer to 8 – 10K per day. Still, a nice treat to look forward to in addition to the free hero ticket pulls.
VIP Value Raffle Pack At the start of every week, you will find this heart-shaped gift-wrapped item to purchase in the VIP Shop. Like it mentions, you get nothing but more VIP Points than what you use to buy it so always buy it every week. It costs 10K and you usually get anywhere between 25K – 60K, even more, if you’re lucky.
Exchange Diamonds The biggest way you are going to make your VIP Points grow is through the use of diamonds. ‘No! They take me ages to save up’ you say? It is the truth. You can exchange diamonds in VIP Point denominations of 100, 1K, 10K, 25K, 50K, and 100K. See the table below – there’s no discount getting bulky VIP Points, just the flexibility.
VIP Points Packages if you decide on spending real money to boost your VIP Points reserves, you’re best to buy them on gathering day COZ. There’s a weekly offer for 310K VIP Points instead of the usual 200K and you can buy them up to 3 times in the day. This is the best in-game package you can buy for VIP Points.
VIP Shop Benefits
I always encourage to organically work your way through Last Shelter with my many guides to help you make the most of what the game offers and that pretty much gets you to where you want, as long as you’re willing to put a lot of time, effort, dedication and grind. That being said, if you are considering dropping some money, here are some VIP Shop benefits you can expect.
SUPER RECRUITMENT TICKETS For most, VIP Shop is most worth it for the fact you can use VIP Points to buy Super tickets. Period. Compared to all other offers, it is also the cheapest way to get them. You can purchase up to 4 Super Tickets per day for 50K VIP Points, with up to 10 tickets on Gathering Day COZ for 500K. The best value to buy is on COZ Hero Development at 400K for 10 tickets (40K per ticket). If you know about seasonal recruitment and heroes, this can really build up your stack until you decide to pull them. Check out my seasonal hero recruitment schedule for the latest hero drops.
BACKUP RESOURCES If you’ve exhausted all your farms, done your COZ chests and hourlies and still find yourself short of that big upgrade, you can purchase up to 10M or less of each resource. Great as a bridge if you are time-constrained. While it is cheaper than using diamonds, it’s not the best use of VIP Points but you’ll find resources on offer during certain days.
PERMANENT BUFFS A noticeable privilege of VIP Shop are the permanent buffs for your troops, being able to increase their resistance, might and HP for that extra edge. They cost 250K per buff.
HERO MEDALS You will find purple hero medals on offer a few times a week, allowing you to purchase 1 per time it is available. This can help unlock skill 4 of your heroes which require 10 purple medals. It costs 25K.
SMART USE TOOLTIP / MASS RUSH These smart savers are save plenty of time and energy – they smart use your speedups without needing to press each one all the time and the mass rapid production does so for all resource plots in bulk. The fact it makes base management much easier is appealing. These cost 200 – 300K each.
EXCLUSIVE BUILDINGS these are quite a big deal. Not in the way how it gives you such a competitive advantage, but the fact you can unlock an extra hospital for more wounded capacity, an exclusive prospector APC made just for gathering that cannot be attacked, advanced exploration that reap in big resources from construction vehicles and storage stations to increase your depot protection are just a few exclusive perks you can unlock. Now they are one of the most expensive VIP Privileges inside the shop, but add extra gameplay utility.
APC PARTS CHESTS From time to time, you’ll find quality chests of APC ranger, phantom and dreadnaught parts pop up in the store for a reasonable amount of VIP Points, edging you a little closer to your gold parts. It’s not a big deal, but by-far the cheapest way to attain those chests vs diamonds. It’ll certainly fill in the gaps.
ENERGY CORES / TELEPORTS Like the resources, the VIP Shop also serves as a backup for stuff like energy cores that go towards crafting APC parts, tech research and advanced teleports for KE. Not the best way to spend your VIP Points but the cheapest way of attaining them. The advanced TP is 6K which equates to 1.5K diamonds. Rarely you’ll get a 30% off in the commercial hub but these are guaranteed.
Quite a list and that’s only a brief summary of the visible rewards you can get from unlocking VIP Shop. It’s also a much more sustainable way of playing in the pay to win ecosystem. Though it requires a very hefty price tag that will no doubt deter casual players, it also represents great value in utilising in-game currency such as diamonds and VIP Points that you can freely accumulate without spending if you’re smart.
Who is VIP Shop For?
Whether it is worth it depends on your play-style, affinity to spend, and budget cap. If you are truly free to play, then VIP Shop is a huge miss – it’s simply way too expensive to even consider. If you don’t mind spending a little or already spend on small packages, then the weekly VIP Badge offer is something you can work towards unlocking VIP Shop as it represents the best value for the long-term. Don’t waste on those small packages as they rack up in expenditure quickly.
NOTE: You should NOT unlock VIP Shop if you don’t have zone commemoration research maxed for double COZ rewards, reached base level 23 at a minimum when diamonds start to flow, or have less than 3 million VIP Points saved up. If you have 3 million VIP Points saved up, then you can go ahead as you can then unlock VIP Level 2 straight away, but the lack of building up diamonds quickly will limit it’s usefulness until you do as that is the main supply of attaining VIP Points thereafter.
For enthusiasts, dedicated or hardcore players, VIP Shop is truly a must. You most likely have spent either a fraction to an extortionate amount buying one-time packages and such in your rush to Base Level 25 or T9 troops. VIP Shop is a more sustainable way of benefiting from in-game currency and resources while offering much better value for money on VIP Point top-ups vs alternatives. If you find the above appealing and it is within your budget, I have no reservation suggesting VIP Shop as one of the add-on services you should go for.
As always, you don’t need VIP Shop and can certainly do without it, as you have been playing the game before it is unlocked. But if you want to extend your gameplay and better compete, this is certainly a step forward. To find out the best ways to organically grow and maximise your play, check out my last shelter guides!
While I scoff at the insanely high price tag associated just with simply unlocking the ability to use it, VIP Shop is still one of the best value packages that truly extends the Last Shelter ecosystem and overall return for players. The high cost to entry is deemed only worth it for players who intend to play the game for the long-run and have taken a commitment to really develop their base and heroes further.
There is a raft of in-game ways to earn VIP Points and make use of those diamonds accumulating in return for gameplay altering perks, privileges and permanent buffs, while also offering key ways to increase your hero recruitment beyond your COZ rewards, saving you plenty of time and real money from buying those hero ticket packages.
Multiple levels do add further longevity to those who decide VIP Shop is right for them, again giving you either an edge, a resource backup to run to, and smart use tools that make management much easier on the fingers.
The choice is ultimately yours. Think wisely. You can certainly do well going full free-to-play if you choose to, provided you are willing to accept the longer timeline to reach the end-game. If you choose to spend in the game, VIP Shop is probably the smartest buy for the long-term albeit a large cash outlay at the beginning. It’s not for everyone, but it is for some players. Looking back, was VIP Shop worth it for me? Well, having played for over 11 months now, I can say I’ve certainly put in enough game time to justify the returns even if I would never dare think of it. The benefits are visible enough to see it was a sound decision.
I really enjoy Last Shelter – for the community, the gameplay, the longevity, and variety. It certainly has it’s flaws and an ecosystem that if you’re at the wrong end of the stick, can certainly ruffle up feathers. But I’ll leave that for my long-term review. In my eyes, VIP Shop is worth it and with VIP Shop Level 2 unlocked – which is arguably the level where VIP Shop shows its worth – has proved my theory before going-in that it was the right choice for me.
Just make sure you don’t regret your decision, make sure it’s right for you and by certainly no means least, try to spend as little real-life money on the game. More importantly, don’t spend money that you cannot afford to do without. Your real-life wellbeing matters more, okay?
