What’s up Team KBA, we’re diving into the warbadge cost for cutting edge research tech in the Last Shelter, to give you a more detailed breakdown of how much warbadges it will cost you per tech level. This guide will be updated as I go which may take some time as I’m not spending to accelerate this, but if you would like to help fill in the information gaps leave a comment at the end of this guide so I can update numbers for unexplored tech!

From this guide, you can better plan where to allocate those precious warbadges which are an more exclusive than how courage medals are gained, to maximise the research effects they will offer your current or tier 10 level troops.

Those indicated with ‘*’ are approximations due to the rounding of the numbers in the game OR estimation from recollection if I forgot to write them down at the time of upgrading.

WHAT ARE WARBADGES?

They are the research currency you need to upgrade cutting edge research tech which is unlocked at the end of Season 5 (Eden: Dissidia for me), a few days before tally phase finished. These are much more exclusive than courage medals as for now, you solely rely on the helipad drops to exchange them for either diamonds or courage medals, so you’ll want to at least have a couple hundred of courage medals to exchange. The number of warbadges you can exchange vary, as that depends on how often the trade helicopter arrives and whether they appear in your drops. Similar to Super Energy Cores for baneblade but a little more generous, on one day I exchanged 250 while another just 150.

To make the most out of this, you’ll need the helicopter at least level 19 for the ‘other’ items to appear in the trade inventory, and then up to level 25 to increase the number of times it visits per day. Additional development heroes like Organiser and more valuably, Esquire reduces the cooldown time between exchanges,and even reduces the exchange cost price. Finally, they become useful. And if you have VIP Store, warbadges are added to the inventory from VIP Level 2 I believe, as a weekly purchase on Gathering Day (Up to 1,000 warbadges @ 10K VIP Points) and Research Day (TBC). Other than that, it’s purchase packs that require real money and so the gap between F2P and P2W players is at it’s largest here, in addition to Super Core production.

The number of warbadges are exactly the same across the troop types so the warbadge totals are multiplied by 3 to get the full cost for each research tech

Below are the level upgrade tables per cutting edge tech, showing you the buff increase and associated warbadge cost per level. Note that the warbadge cost per tech for all three troop types (fighter, shooter, vehicle) are the same so you’ll see the corresponding tech names for the one table. Also, these warbadge costs exclude the specialisation cost reductions as I go.

COMBAT FLEXIBILITY

Increases the total might of troops by an extra +30%. This increase the amount of damage received from basic troop attack.

FIRST THREE TECH

There are two paths you can choose how to use your war badge in the beginning, but generally with one common fundamental – focus war badges on the troop type you have the strongest heroes for. I.e. if my heroes are most developed and strongest using vehicle heroes, upgrade solely vehicle cutting edge tech. Naturally, the higher level upgrades consume more war badges, but the attribute upgrade becomes larger. Example being level 5 offers +9% might, vs level 10 +30% might. That’s a huge difference, compared to spreading warbadges thinly across troop types which is less efficient. From that fundamental you need to choose if you’re a player who will:

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

  1. Use T10 troops as soon as possible and fight with them (5,5,5, T10 unlock)
  2. Max stat buffs for T9 troops slowly working towards T10 (10,10,10)

If you want to go path number 1, the 10,000 warbadges received by the last shelter developers as soon as T10 is unlocked for your state, is enough to unlock T10 of 1 troop type. To do this, upgrade might, resistance and HP each to level 5 (+9,+9%,+3%), leaving just enough war badges to unlock T10 which require 3,000 warbadges. It will also open up the next level, but will require far more warbadges from then.

If you’re path number 2, you’ll want to reach level 5 for each might, resistance and HP (+9%,+9%,+3%), and then have the choice to consume the remaining war badges for either 3 of the buffs and focus on maxing one at a time. Note, once all are at level 5, you can HP or resistance without needing to bring might tech level higher, so they can be independently maxed rather than maxing from top to bottom. My suggestion is to upgrade HP first as it is the best defensive stat available and the HP buff maxed at 15% is huge. It also has no direct counter and is what I would prioritise first out of the 3, and then your preference of might or resistance after.
