Alright Team KBA, we’re back on how you can grow smarter in Last Shelter and today’s topic revolves around warbadges for cutting edge research. You’ll see cutting edge research tech appear in the research institute when Season X heroes open up and is most likely Eden Season. This will help you plan out how to approach building up warbadges within your budget means and capture all the options you have when it comes to getting warbadges. Be sure to check out my other cutting edge / warbadge guides for more and share with your alliance buddies so they can better prepare for the next wave of upgrades.
A little bit on Cutting Edge – this is a big upgrade after maxing out every other researches, most significantly known for unlocking T10 troops for each troop type: Hero (Fighter), Assasin (Shooter) and Peace Envoy (Vehicle). Not only that, it’ll bring bigger boosts to T9 troops and below with the below total base upgrades to attributes. You’ll Need to complete Cutting Edge three times for each troop type:
T10 Total Units
T10 Training Speed
T10 Training Cost
T10 Healing Speed
T10 Healing Cost
I say base upgrades as tech specialisation points add further combat, production and warbadge bonuses which I’ll cover in another guide. But in essence, these are huge boosts to troop types that add an extra layer of competitive edge, depending on what kind of player you hope to be in Last Shelter.
warbadge pack value
Think of these as the next tech upgrade currency as what courage medals are to previous tech upgrades. The difference, is warbadges are more exclusive, less organically awarded in-game (you don’t earn these in Clash of Zones), and serves to cater to those who want to grow stronger and faster. Transparently, like Baneblade parts, be prepared to part with money otherwise you’ll be waiting quite a while to make significant inroads in Cutting Edge.
MONTHLY LIMITED PACK (3)
TECH DAY SPECIAL SUPPLY
a theme in Last Shelter is the trade-off between time and money – the best value options are those that require longer time, while the biggest packs which award warbadge instantly are the most expensive. Balanced packs come once a month in great value for money. The 5-day vault and special supply are the worst packs to clearly avoid due to either the high price, low value rating or return in warbadge amount to do things meaningfully. Regular packs bought during cumulative if your budget allows offers greater rewards than any other time while the monthly drop, trade supply and arms supply should be the default offers you got to first.
how to get warbadges
BUT, you can still earn some organically and find a range of paid packs, some which are better value than others, and some which are limited time. Here’s every way you can get them and some thoughts on warbadge growth for different players (free to play, small spender, heavily invested).
HELICOPTER DROP (ORGANIC, 100-250 PER DAY)
Definitely pick up warbadges daily from the helicoter drop. It’s minimal per day but can add up over time and fill in those small differences to get the tech upgrade you want running. This varies and depends on your helicopter level and whether you stationed development hero esquire. These don’t directly affect the amount you get but makes the helicopter refresh more frequently, up to 4 times per day if you log in when they’re due, making warbadges more likely to appear. From experience I’ve had as high as 250 and low as 100, with the average around 150/200. Sometimes they’ll appear in the first refresh but could also be the 2nd or 3rd so don’t freak out if they aren’t there during refresh. It’s also worth spending 1K diamonds to get the 3rd refresh in the same cycle to maximise chances.
EVENTS (ORGANIC, 100 – 1000 PER EVENT)
Some events in the benefit tasks and bigger events happen, awarding warbadges in the process. The benefit tasks depending on what they are, can offer either 100 but sometimes 1000 which is pretty big for organica play. This rotates or sits alongside other benefit tasks for baneblade super energy core. These appear from time to time, while bigger events like rallying stronger zombies are less frequent.
DOOMSDAY SHOP (1,500 DD COINS PER 100 WARBADGES)
The biggest organic way to get warbadges is through the Doomsday shop. The exchange rate isn’t that great, in which I prioritise SX tickets, baneblade super cores and completing key pre-SX heroes with. But if you’re focusing on warbadges and want to get as much from your in-game currency or leftover doomsday coins from the season, it can help you get a few tech upgrades done, AND it costs you no extra real money. You’ll have to compromise on the other inventory stuff I mentioned, but hey at least it’s there. You can max out the store by picking up 15,000 warbadges a season at the cost of 360,000 doomsday coins. So yeah, expensive.
VIP STORE (25K DIAMONDS, 1,000)
Outside of organic options (which are very limited), the next best thing is VIP Store. the value of accessing VIP Store becomes far greater as warbadges can be picked up twice a week by exchanging diamonds – you can collect 1,000 warbadges for 25K diamonds on gathering and tech day. Boosting ‘organic’ warbadge development tremendously at 2K per week. Mix that alongside other paid options can accelerate upgrades more than relying on organic picks up from the helipad or Doomsday shop with compromises.
TRADE SUPPLY ($5, 3,500 PER 7 DAYS)
Best value for money when it comes to paid options. You get 500 warbadges a day for 7 days and costs £4.59 / $5 for a weeks worth. It’s easily the best price way of getting warbadges out of the bunch, which balances time and money. This should be the default paid option you activate when looking to boost warbadges.
COZ RESEARCH DAY DAILY PACK ($5, 1,500 ONLY)
This appears during COZ research tech day as a special supply for states under daily pack (hero tokens pack and daily supply pickups). It’s meant as a filler or bridge in case you’re short of warbadges to hit 9 boxes, but can also be an extra pickup for warbadge development over time. It’s still one of the worse value packs offering 42% less warbadges than trade supply.
ARMS SUPPLY ($25, 15,000 PER 30 DAYS)
This is similarly best value for money as trade supply giving 500 warbadges per day for the duration of arms supply, totalling 15,000 warbadges. You get additional chests for dreadnaught, ranger and phantom parts production an extra bonuses so overall the value is higher than trade supply, while trade supply will give you more raw warbadge amount. This is interchangeable with trade supply as one of the default choices when looking to increase warbadges through paid options.
MONTHLY LIMITED WARBADGE PACK ($20, 8,000 PER PACK, LIMIT 3)
When it comes to actual packs, waiting roughly a month for these to become a available is worth it. These are the best packs for your money outside of arms supply and trade supply, fairing very close in terms of value but giving you a healthy amount in the process to get those meatier cutting edge upgrades done. These are offered in the same window with baneblade super cores which also are excellent value for super cores so if you’re doing both, pick them up during this period. You can only buy a maximum of 3 warbadge packs, totalling 24,000 warbadges for $60, 40% cheaper than the regular $99 pack. If you plan to go big, these 3 packs are very worth it compared to any other time.
SPECIAL WAR BADGE OFFER ($50, 15,000 AFTER 5 DAYS)
If you want to cut down the total number of warbadges you get from arms supply by 75%, then the special warbadge offer is a middle of the road value pack. It’s double the price of arms supply for the same number, but you can get these in just 5 days compared to 30. You’ll need to buy each warbadge pack for 5 days, before it opens up the final 5,000 warbadges from the vault. Make sure you have enough days to open all 5 packs, otherwise you can miss out on the 5K vault which then makes this one of the worst packs. There are a couple days of buffer so that’s unlikely to happen.
This is for highly invested players who want to max out cutting edge quickly. Everything else I would expect to be activated (trade, arms supply, VIP store pickups). When it comes to big pack purchases, you should only time this during cumulative event which awards even more tier rewards on top of purchases. Extra warbadges are given in the high tiers with doubled up diamonds and extras so it’s better value for the usual $99 regular packs.
FREE TO PLAY naturally max out the organic drops of warbadges when you can. It’ll depend where you are on your heroes and baneblade focus, but it’s worth spending a portion of Doomsday coins on warbadges to get that ticking along. Not a lot and I would weight more to SX tickets, any key pre-SX heroes to max (Tech Priestess, Ivanov, Panther the core) and then max out super energy cores for baneblade parts at 90K doomsday coins. Leftovers can be spent for warbadges and then shift focus to warbadges over the seasons. You’ll have to play long term when it comes to not spending any money, although I would consider VIP Store if you want to be competitive for access to super tickets and warbadges (commit to VIP store earlier on if you decide it’s right for you).
MINIMAL VIP Store will be the best value buy you can make in Last Shelter for it’s long term value in access to super tickets and warbadge at level 2. That’ll increase your organic warbadge pickup per week greatly. Then any remaining spend in your budget should be for either arms supply or trade supply topped up weekly, or both whenever it suits you.
INVESTED do all the above mentioned for minimal, and get the monthly limited packs at 8,000 warbadges for $20 that’s the best pack value of the bunch. Get all 3 packs and you’re golden. Any leftover budget for warbadge you can consider the $99 pack during cumulative for extra diamond, super tickets and warbadges in the tier rewards.
So that’s it, pretty much all the ways you can get warbadges, better value for money options and some help for organic players so they can still grow steadily. Warbadges are a long-play so don’t feel the need to rush this, and there’s also an art to how you should upgrade cutting edge tech which I’ll cover next time to upgrade smart and allocate those specialisation points. Otherwise, have fun and see you in the battlefield! KBA, 1TT State 847.
