If you’re an enthusiast for sports or activities, where pushing your body hard is the norm to perform at your best, you may want to have a look at this – the Achedaway Pro percussion massage device. Within my own 5 days-a-week exercise routine I found it helped reduce my workout recovery time through improved blood circulation flow, reduce lactic acid build-up post-workout, loosen and activate muscles in a warmup – and like the name mentions – lower aches and sores to avoid stiffness. It’s an optional device to your recovery flow and a price that isn’t as accessible for everyone, but worth the price tag for those committed to their active lifestyle.

Unpacking the Achedaway Pro

ACHEDAWAY PRO REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER UNBOXING

Opening the box the whole package comes in a pretty impressive protective rugged case. It’s durable, looks like it’ll absorb a few niggles and hits while keeping the Achedaway Pro safe. The individual insert for the massager and attachment heads makes everything stay in place. The caze is compact, easy to carry thanns to the soft touch handle at the top of the case and a flatlay zipper for easy access. I would have probably preferred the zippers facing the handle so I can open it like a briefcase to avoid any risk of the items falling out from the bottom if I didn’t zip all the way.

The case can shrink a little more, with some unused empty space just above the Achedaway Pro to make it even more compact. I like the mesh pouch on the lid to house any flat documents or papers so theres a little more storage option here if you want to pack resistance bands.

Charging the Achedaway Pro’s 3200Mah rechargeable battery requires the mains power charger. It’s a proprietary connection so you can only use this type of head while the plug type depends on your region. In my case I have the EU head that also works in South Korea. The battery itself is removable from the handle if you plan to carry a spare or want to charge separately but I’ve always charged it with everything together, even if I have yet to charge in nearly a month of use which is very convenient.

Attachment Massage Heads

There are four attachment heads you can interchange – soft, flat, fork, and bullet heads. No tooling is required to switch, just an easy slot in and out with a rubber fitting and some force. Provided it’s firmly in place, it won’t come out unless you pull it out. Convenient and easy for anyone to operate. And even if it isn’t placed inside, the heads are soft and cannot hurt anyone.

Each head is antimicrobial and anti porous, meaning it will resist light exposure to sweat or rain, while it stays hygienic in killing bacteria and preventing build-up should you directly apply it onto your skin post-workout. The heads themselves differ from each other and make a substantial difference to the overall experience – the soft head, for general all-body use, flathead, for thicker muscle area, fork for the neck, traps, and shoulder area, and bullet for deeper muscle trigger points.

In use, I found the forkhead to really help reduce the tension towards the neck and skull as shown above, relieving tight head tension while relaxing hard trap and shoulder muscle from exercises. The soft head is a nice light applicator for easing muscle sores, while the flathead provides a more blunt pressure on the area beyond the muscle surface aches.

When there are deeper muscle sores, the bullet head is ideal for getting deep into the tissue and unlocking those areas that are otherwise difficult to reach. It’s intense but the feeling after is a blissful relief to the muscle tension. I like the fact you can do it all by yourself thanks to the long handle and flexibility in how you want to hold the Achedaway pro so you can be self-sufficient.

Controlling the Achedaway Pro

Working the Achedaway Pro is very easy – there’s only one button which is the power button in the centre of the rear, surrounded by air vents in the shape of circles. The dimpled design fills in the gaps for aesthetic, while the vents in the corner do sufficient to let heat out from the brushless motor. There’s never a feeling of air rushing out or heat when touching the surface or feeling the rear so you don’t need to worry about that.

A long press will turn on the Achedaway Pro and have the percussion motion start after 2 seconds, while a single press of the power button adjusts the percussion speed/intensity. There are 5 levels that it cycles through, the motor getting faster and stronger before circling back to level 1. That’s it. It is all about functionality and delivers on a simple, uncomplicated design to do nothing more than just massage and help those muscles recover.

The only indicators you get are the percussion levels on the left in circles of blue LED lights, while the right side of the power button will have 5 LED lights in red for battery status, each per 20% of charge. That’s kind of all you need. I never felt a monitor for extra information, or buttons for more modes or fancy stuff is essential, it just focuses on providing the level of percussion set and away you go. It’s the hardware interchangeability with the attachment heads that makes the Achedaway Pro different and functions that are meaningful to the dedicated sportsperson/athlete / personal trainer/physiotherapist.

Ergonomic Handling

ACHEDAWAY PRO REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER HANDHELD

Handling the Achedaway Pro feels comfortable, natural, and easy. The longer and rounded handle make it easy to wrap your hand around and hold steadily when the percussion motion starts. There are no hard edges or sharp ridges beside the rear; every corner is nicely rounded off. It’s pretty large for a massage gun compared to others out there but the torque this drives with the attachment heads deliver a solid, quality experience.

It weighs 1.15KG which may be on the heavier side for some, but for the most part, I found no arm tiredness or fatigue kicking in for the duration of time I was using this on my muscles. It may tire a little when you reach trigger points on the back of your body, but the long handle grip makes this a surprisingly comfortable task with a little more extension to work with.

At its most basic level of intensity, the Achedaway Pro delivers 47 percussions at 16mm amplitude to help blood flow circulation and ease tense points in that time. I’d say 80% of the time you’ll find level 1 more than satisfactory for general muscle recovery, while 15% of the time at level 2 for those deeper tissue aches. The remaining 5% of the time you may reach for level 3 or higher, though these I find deliver much more percussions and torque than I really needed, kind of like those supercars that can go crazy fast, you don’t really need to. The statement is there that the Achedaway Pro is a powerful massage device that is consistent and can help alleviate even the most intense of muscle sores post-workout or during recovery.

Tool for the Invested & Dedicated

So who is the Achedaway Pro percussion massage device intended for? At an RRP of $469.99, it prices out casual users and is focused on individuals or professionals committed, dedicated, or invested in an active lifestyle. Whether you are a professional athlete, sportsperson, personal trainer, or fitness instructor to the calisthenics enthusiast, bodybuilder, or gymnast, it’s suitable for a vast range of exercise disciplines where being active or high performance is a key part of their lifestyle.

I very much like the ease-of-use, simple and functional design with solid battery life to last many sessions. The organised protective case, balanced weight, and interchangeable heads make this a great gift for partners, a treat if you’re invested in your athletic ability or professional fitness training capacities to supplement recovery for clients. It justifies the pricetag in its execution, high torque, and consistent, percussion motor.

It’s not the most nimble, compact, or cheapest on the market, but for people that hold themselves to a high standard that demands quality from any equipment they use as part of their process, the Achedaway Pro can definitely keep up. I haven’t had any complaints in the operation, hardware, or performance and found it an excellent tool to aid muscle recovery post-workout, activate muscles in warmups, and a daily maintenance tool in your spare time wherever to keep your body and muscle in peak condition. Achedaway Pro certainly alleviates a lot of the sores and aches when you push hard nearly every day of the week, so you’re left feeling more satisfied than sore.

ACHEDAWAY PRO REVIEW ONE TECH TRAVELLER HERO
CONCLUSION
Recovery Tool for enthusiasts and professionals looking to accelerate their muscle recovery time, alleviate pains and sores with easy to use hardware, and a justified price tag to keep you in peak condition. It's not the most compact or cheapest but delivers a quality, consistent and reliable experience.

  1. I had an awful experience with Achedaway. I purchased the item directly through them. The item did not arrive until over 10 days after I purchased it. The 30 day money back guaranteed time period started on the day that I ordered the item. It was a gift for my parents. By the time I gave it to them and they tried [and did not like] it the 30 days was technically up. They are refusing to admit that their website directly states only says “30 DAYS MONEY BACK GUARANTEED
Try Achedaway for 30 Days and if you are not satisfied return it within 30 days and get your money back”. Lies. The device is extremely heavy. My parents found it uncomfortable to hold and use. I am very strong and also found the device to be heavy. Go with the TheraGun. Worth the extra money because it is lightweight and ergonomic.

    1. Hey Sarah, thanks for sharing your experience buying the Achedaway, it’s a shame they gave you a bad unsavoury experience. It’s a very heavy-duty type of massage gun which works great but definitely there are more compact, lighter and cheaper massage guns that do well, like you mention the theragun. I hope your parents like the new one and I hope Achedaway do the decent thing. If not, appreciate you sharing your feedback for others to know.

      Keep being awesome Sarah! 1TT
